So, I came to a realization tonight. Terrorfakt is like power noise lite.

Agree/disagree?

Terrorfakt is like "we suck heavy" masquerading as a noise band with talent.

In simpler terms.. they suck!!

Well, from what I've heard of Cold Steel World, I like a couple of songs, they're just very, not caustic, and, well, the good power noise/industrial tends to be pretty caustic.

No, Caustic is a different band that sucks.:)

synthetikmisery-

having been invited to open for terrorfakt and playing a show with them and actually talking to the person that does terrorfakt outside of him playing live, i can safely say terrorfakt does not suck.

he works his ass off to get to where he is at and i have alot of respect for what he does.

you should see terrorfakt live. it is one of the noisiest concerts you will ever hear.

What I've heard by them is decent, but kind of sounds like really distorted trance, to me. Then again I don't really understand the "power noise" genre that much. Seems to me that it's not really noise (or "power electronics") at all.

it gets really good (and unlike distorted trance) if you get into Converter or Imminent Starvation, for example.

converter kicks ass 73% of the time.

i like that converter/asche/morgenstern erode ep.

if merzbow had any sort of beat in his music, i'd listen to him and nobody else.

It's cheesy and formulaic (like Xotox), which means it generally works well on the dancefloor :)

your writing about Terrorfakt while listening to one of Nick Caves slowest songs... !!!???

Anyways, some of the new TF tracks that have been previewed in a few lucky clubs when Hellraver was DJ'ing and at a few dates on the last US tour that just wrapped up are pushing quicker bpms and experimenting with even more distorted sounds then some of the older songs. Cold World Remixes also offers up a more varied version of tracks from Cold Steel World and its one of the best remix disc from this year. Sure, Terrofakt may not be as harsh as say Winterkalte, and have to disagree on the lite-term as personally, I take more interest in Terrorfakt than I do many other 'noise' artist who I certainly would deem noise-lite...

everyone's either a damn critic or a DJ now...

Just my thoughts ;)

there is heavier powernoise than terrorfakt, but there is also some out there much, much lighter - so i shall have to disagree with you.

[info]shocktrama

November 24 2005, 00:07:34 UTC 6 years ago

If it was any lighter than Terrorfakt, I wouldn't really call it powernoise.

Most powernoise that elitists rave on and on about is essentially a dryer with a boot thrown in put through a distortion pedal. Terrorfakt aren't all that great, but they're better than alot of that crap. New release from MAYTAG - XONOROXIBLIXT, released in a limited run of 500 in a 5 1/2 floppy slipcase!

I liked the TERRORFAKT v. MANUFAKTURA shows. They both played good when I saw that. I also would say that W.A.S.T.E. is one of my more favorite noise groups.

Since taking a liking for hardcore, I've realised that all powernoise is lightweight.
